Every community holds shared memories that remind us of our strength and compassion. The events of 9/11 are one of those moments that continue to bring people together in reflection, gratitude, and unity.
I was preparing to head to our annual conference with Gary Keller. The Mega Agent Camp, as we call it, is a gathering where agents from all across the country come together to share ideas and learn how to be better both professionally, and personally. The experience is amazing and I was so excited for it!
But before leaving town, I made a last-minute stop to help a family I was working with. When she opened the door, tears were streaming down her face. Confused, I asked if she was okay. She pulled me to her TV where the first tower was burning. I still remember the stunned silence as we stood together when the second plane struck. It felt so unreal…
I called Gary, his guidance is something I’ve always valued – his reply was simple: “If you can get here, get here.” What followed was one of the most powerful 24 hours I’ve ever experienced. This was a time for deep soul-searching, so we put aside business. We focused on what truly mattered: how to care for one another, our communities, and ourselves in this dark and uncertain time.
That day, and every year since, has been a reminder for me: Stay Present. Bring light and love to those in front of you. Make sure the people you care about know they are the most important in the world, because in those moments, they are.
This is also why we partner with those who bring hope and healing into our community. Many years ago we started supporting Children’s Medical Center in Dallas because they walk with families through unimaginable moments, providing world-class medical treatment and hope for kids in our community that need it the most.
You can join us to help bring more light and love into the world! Your introductions not only support us, each one fuels our mission to our community. With each introduction, we donate a portion of our income to Children’s Medical and other worthy causes so they can continue doing their good work. If you know of someone who is thinking of selling or buying a home, Call or Text us at 214-972-0135!
With gratitude,
Dan Harker
