As we continue to serve many families like yours, I wanted to share a story about my own family that has shaped my life and led our team to support Tunnel to Towers. This organization holds a special place in my heart because I can relate to the sacrifice to those that make the ultimate commitment to serve our country, all while knowing they are likely putting their life on the line.

For me personally, I come from a family of service. One of my grandfathers served in the Navy, while the other served in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was in a prison camp for 9 months before he was rescued. He got a purple heart and was very fortunate to survive. I loved hearing stories about how he kept his mindset positive while being a POW. However, my inspiration wasn’t solely drawn from my grandfather’s experiences. Seeing my sister’s journey firsthand as the spouse of an active-duty husband, managing three young children during extended deployments, provided me with an intimate understanding of the sacrifices families make in support of their spouses.

When I was 19, I joined the Air Force and thoroughly enjoyed serving. I remember when I was swearing in, knowing the commitment I was making was much larger than myself but it was to my country. I was so proud to serve my country. My brother also joined the Army and served for several years and did a couple of tours before he got out and chose to serve at the local level as a police officer. All of this is very close to me and I see what the military and first responders go through.

Supporting Tunnel to Towers is a way to say thank you to not only the service members, but their families as well. I find myself continually thinking about these families, and the organization recognizes the sacrifices of our military and first responders and builds mortgage-free smart homes for our most catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Each home is designed to address the unique needs of each individual. This is why we’re so passionate about helping families through real estate, it allows us to support worthy causes like Tunnel to Towers. Helping families and fighting for them through the purchase or sale of a home is an incredible responsibility that we don’t take lightly!

Thank You,
Brandie Mathison-Klein
